Mat Twiehaus is the only one I know of around here brave enough to get his Cobra out in 19 degree weather but when the weather warms up there should be plenty to do. We have quite a few members in the South Tulsa and Broken Arrow plus the founder of the TAC group has a few in the Owasso area. Do you want to do some track days with some of us or are you more interested in car shows and cruises? Pretty diverse group of guys around here so you should be able to find a nitch. If you're near Forrest Ridge Golf club I live close to there so feel free to stop by sometime.

This is great news, I'm about 5 minutes east of Forest Ridge. I would like to understand the various events, I'm interested in track time at Hallett as well as cruises with the wife. It would be great to stop in Forest Ridge to get updated on the typical events for the spring.

Thanks

Mat Twiehaus doesn't have a motor in his cobra right now, but Clois Harlan has a nice heater in his garage and beer in the fridge. Thats where I like to hang out. But when my Coupe gets done (with heated seats), 19 degrees will be fun. 19 degrees, that's a lot of free horsepower!

In regards to Hallett, what are the preferred tires for the track? I would like to get ready for the upcoming season and locate a set of tires and spare wheels.

Thanks

Tires.... I'm no expert and there's lots out there. Scott Stevens out at the track might lend you his expertise and tell you what most people run out there and the different types of people that he sees from weekend novices to pro skill drivers.

I run 17" NT-01s on my Cobra, 315s on back and 275s up front. That's probably most common sizes for Cobras running 17" wheels. These tires are somewhat aggressive track compound tires, not good for street use, although they are treaded. They will tend to last quite a while too. Hoosier R6s are probably about the fastest options, aside from pure race slicks. Very sticky, but the stickier they are the quicker they get used up....$$$.

Not sure what type of driver you are, but if you have lots of experience, you probably know more than me, so get the fast tires. If you're a novice, driving on street tires a weekend or two is a great way to learn the track and your car at slightly lower and safer speeds.

I don't drive enough/have the money to buy tires that only last a couple of weekends, so I'm happy with the NT 01s. Lots of other options out there, just my $0.02 worth.
