Best Shifter for Tremec. Jordan ?
A SPF owner said this Jordan is the best shifter for the Tremec. Anybody use one ?
Cost is from $135-$150 What do you like, name, website, price and why ? Jordan- http://www.secondstrike.com/SecondSt...danShifter.htm |
Ordered the fan motor covers and the Jordan Shifter from Second Strike. Pricey yes...get what you pay for...yes. Hi quality pieces that will outlast the car. I have the standard shifter and had plans to change the standard knob to a Hurst ball. I am keeping the standard as it's way too comfortable. Right height and crisp, clean, positive shifts. Just my 2 cents worth.

I went with the Steeda Tri-Ax. It's been great so far.
http://www.steeda.com/products/steed...ter_tremec.php The second to third shift seems to be the biggest complaint. I found this Olthoff video with tips about the second to third shift (open palm with forward motion). Guess what? It works like a charm. :) http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...hlight=olthoff |
I have both the standard Jordan shifter and the shorter competition track shifter. I love them both. The standard shifter is longer and works very well, and I also tried the large white Q-ball knob, but it was WAY too big for my hand. The shorter track shifter is what I now use and it is really fast, but a little harder to shift because you don't have the leverage.
Highly recommend either. Their quality is A+. If you are interested in my standard Jordan shifter (that I no longer use), it is for sale and is in perfect condition. |

I have the Jordan shift lever mounted on the Steeda Tri-Ax like the one the Bug mentioned - great combination. I like the Jordan so much I gave my original lever to another cc.com user on the "Pay it forward" thread.

My drag racing customers like either the MGW or the Steeda Tri-Ax. They don't miss gears with them.

Pro 5.0 is another good one.

I'm running a Pro-5.0 in mine..

With the spring system for 2nd to 3rd gear shifting in the Steeda Tri-Ax, has anyone broke it ?
Also, is there a photo of the Jordan ? I only see the lever. |

Geeezzzz Kevin, by time you get done with this project (new motor/trans) your gonna need a Lokar shifter......hahahahaha

hehe, yeah..... I already have a low car. (sorry, just had to) :p
I was sponsored a QuickTime bell housing today.... :3DSMILE: |
I went with Blykins recommendation, the Steeda for my new TKO (also from Blykins). I'm still undecided on the shifter itself. I'd like to retain the original look with my existing shift lever (modified to fit the Steeda) but am trying to balance that against NOT missing that 2-3 shift. I lost an important race once missing that shift, it still hurts. I coulda had him man, that race was mine to loose (I know, no excuses). :)

Don't ya hate it when something so small hurts so much !
With one of my A feature sprint car races, a spark plug wire was hit by a dirt clod, pulling it off, and loosing the race with one corner to go. (that made me spend 10 bucks,.... for a metal protector) ;) I assume this is the one you bought ? 555-7456 Steeda Tri-Ax® Shifter for Tremec 500/600 $199.95 http://i44.tinypic.com/oa97bp.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/34nr1q9.jpg |

Well I guess thats the one Funfer2, since I haven't got the parts yet I'd have to defer to my supplier, Blykins.
Yo Brent, is that the one I'm getting? :) :) |
any difference
I was wondering is there any thing different about the 5.0 version, and where do you get that one at, my problem sometimes is when grabbing a handfull and shifting from second to third at 6000 rpm in a big block with 550 hp is a handfull, I watched the olthoff video, and had to laff, lets see him do that in real life,in a big hp car I do know he is a good driver though.
