Looking for a Toploader speedometer drive housing
Does anyone have a spare speedometer driven gear housing that plugs into the side of the toploader transmission, clamp, O-ring, etc in good shape? I'm more use to Muncie transmissions so I hope this description is close. Mine is missing. If so let me know what you want for it.
Thanks Dan Clemans dclem427@comcast.net |
Should come with a new speedometer cable...then you just add whatever driven gear you need.

Brent - I'm not following you. I have a new speedometer cable from ERA but I have a gaping hole in the side of my Toploader that based om my Muncie experience - receives a small housing that the driven gear spins in and the speedo cable coupling threads on to. It should have an o-ring or gasket and is usually held in the transmission with a clamp. You can see it in this photo I think is attached (?).

Speedo drive
Hi Dan,
I make a speedo drive and have gears that fits into a Top Loader (Jerico & David Key), TKO or Ford T-5. This speedo drive is made to use a GM speedo drive. I also sell a cable and gear to work in your Top Loader. I hope I can help with what you need. Thanks, Mike Quote:

I guess I better go check what Peter and Bob at ERA sent me for a speedometer cable again since it's been nearly a year since I looked at it. That's been part of my problem having worked on GM and Mopar stuff for 40 years and now having to learn Ford-speak.
thanks |
Looks like I owe you an apology Brent and should learn to double check my facts. My ERA speedo cable does have the gear and keeper mounted on the end so I guess I'm set. Looks like a better idea from Ford.
thanks |
No apology necessary. Glad you already had everything you need. Be sure and double check the gear; make sure that it's the right one for your tire/rearend combination.
