Default toploader shifter

I am putting together the drivetrain for my new car.

i have obtained a big block ford toploader - big in, big out, with 24" tailshaft.

i need to get a shifter. I can't seem to find anywhere to buy a shifter - david kee sells one, and he seems very nice, but it is very expensive (more than $600). is there anywhere else to get a shifter? i couldn't find any for sale at carlisle this week.

dan williams is not doing these anymore.

there is a nice guy who rebuilds and resells original shifters on eBay (in maryland) and he can also do it for about $600. just wondering if there are any other options that might not cost half the price of the transmission?

$600 for a new shifter or for a unit professionally rebuilt by a toploader expert is money well spent, in my opinion. David Kee's Australian agent rebuilt my toploader and also my Hurst shifter...the box isn't yet in the car, but 'bench testing' the shifter, it has rifle-bolt precision and there is no 'slop' whatsoever. I have heard that the difference between a well set-up toploader shifter (Ford or Hurst) and one that needs refurbishing is - predictably - like chalk and cheese.

Cheers,
Glen

I have an option for you. I have the shifter quadrant that I will sell quite reasonable - I just need to see if it is the correct one - I think it is. Then you get the levers from NPD or some other Mustang supply house, and you are in business. If you are interested let me know.

Some other options:

David Keys
also
Toploader Heaven

both sell all the parts you could need. Check them out on Google or EBAY
