Not getting any Younger, Tremec T5 to Automatic?

Hi all, as we all know we don't get any younger, only older, and getting old SUCKS, but it sure as hell beats the Alternative.....so, with that said, if I knew it was going to take 13 years to finish my build I would have put an (OH NO! DIRTY WORD) Automatic transmission in the car. So, I have a 1966 StreetBeasts AC Cobra kit with a 1989 5.0 (302) and a Tremec T5 tranny. I want to convert an automatic with the least headaches and cost, soooooooo, GO, tell me what to look for, please????????????:eek::eek:

Go with a built Ford AOD. You will want that overdrive. Perhaps twin turbo or others running them will chime in...

It would probably benefit Earl if you guys who have automatics would discuss how you plumbed in the transmission oil cooler. Those of us with standard transmissions do not need to be concerned about that.

Wellllllllllllllllllllll, it is "DONE", I now have a Ford C6 automatic transmission.......still have "BUGS" to work out but it is in and the driveshaft has been shortened........I'm working on a plan to use the old 5 speed shift handle so it will still "LOOK" like a standard shift, hmmmmm, sneaky, LOL!!! Working on a few other minor things that never got finished and hopefully once the weather cools down from "Nuclear" to "Melting" I can get some miles on the lovely lady, it's a shame it's been done a year and only has like 25 miles on her.:eek:**)**)**)**)**)**)

I made up a shifter to make it look like a manual. You just need to push down to disengage the lock outs. It would really fool a car thief. I needed to make a small pointer to indicate the gears.

I went with a C-4 because it was what I already had and don't regret it one bit. Here is my shifter setup.
