PA and surrounding states...need help planning Cobra Revolution III
Alright folks, we're in the process of putting together CRIII. We've got the date set, Saturday, June 4th, and probably June 5th too. Rain date will be Saturday, June 11th (let's pray we don't need it). The location is confirmed, it will again be in Washingtons' Crossing Park. I'm pretty sure that Rob Weatherby from Speed and Assembly will attend and bring his dyno.
Food will be catered BBQ, and like last year, we're going to allow anyone who wants to bring a dish to do so. It was a big hit last year. What we need help with is the poker run. Last year was a fantastic run, but I'd like to see if we can come up with new and better stops. So what would your suggestions be? A speed shop? Historical sites? Stop in New Hope, where there will be lots of people to check the cars out and lots of quiant little shops? The plan is to leave the park lunch/show around 2-2:30 pm or so, and we hope to make the last stop of the run at a spot where anyone who's staying for dinner can eat. So what do you suggest? And anyone who is local, I'd love any help in planning the driving route if we need to alter it from last year. Steve |
Ouch, June 4th......
The darn Cobra is still in pieces in my garage, may be a spectator again there! |
Steve, Hey send me the info, I was planning on attending.
:3DSMILE: |
Steve,
Just bring a part of the car. :D Trularin, Great, I'm really glad to hear you plan on attending! I'll probably put out all the details and registration form sometime in late March/early April. Still trying to work everything out. Steve |
Steve, Please send information. Also, we have decided to go to DVSFV instead of SAAC 30 in Ca. Will be in Vegas for Vegas 9. Thanks, Bill
|
Steve,
The Delaware contingent will be there again....keep us informed. |
Bill and Rob,
Definitely glad to hear you and your group are coming!! Seems this years' crowd is going to be even bigger than last year. We're working on all the nitty gritty details now. I hope to have the registration form out sometime in late March/early April. The basics are in place. Saturday, June 4th, starting around noon. Lunch/car show, followed by a poker run/cruise or something along those lines. Cruise should end at a spot for dinner for those that want to stay. If people are coming from a distance and spending the night, we'll certainly find things going on for Sunday we can do. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Steve |
Steve:
You can count me in 100% again this year. I may actually bring a car in 2005 now that CSX4349 is completed and all the gremlins have been worked out. If the weather looks "iffy" this year and not suitable for the cobra, I assume you have no problem if I bring the CAV GT40 instead. Also if you need assistance in putting this years event together, just let me know. I would be happy to offer my services in any capacity. Just let me know. jim |
Jim,
You can bring the GT40 if you promise to let me get a good look at it. :D Thanks for the offer of help. At this point, the major help I need is planning the poker run. If you've got any suggestions or thoughts for where to make our stops, please post them. Steve |
Steve:
If I bring the GT40 I will also let you drive it - if you want!!! That is the least I can do if you let me park it along side the cobras. If it is a hot and humid day we can even turn the A/C on. Sorry, but no radio. Since I am a Jersey boy, I can give you a few suggestions provided you are ok with crossing over to the NJ side. If you want to keep it in the PA side, I will not be much help. Let me know if you NJ is an option. Jim |
Steve,
Just let me know what you need help with and I'll do all I can. Mike Ampower / ERA649 |
Wow! A/C? Have ya got any cupholders?? :D That car doesn't need a radio, it's got the best speakers around...two exhaust pipes. I consider it luxury if I get out of my Cobra and don't smell like exhaust, have a loose filling and my ears ringing!!! Let's hope the weather is such that you can bring the Cobra anyway. My weather luck has to change sooner or later....
We crossed into NJ for part of last years' run. I don't mind crossing, but I think we'd want to stay close to the river. I'm not really sure yet. I'm open to anything. Like I had mentioned, I thought last years' drive was great. I'd just like to see if we can do one better this year. I know there used to be a NASCAR Busch series race shop in eastern PA (Bill Hoff), but I'm not sure if he's still around. But that's just one thought that bounced in my head. We don't even have to make it a "poker run" per se. We can do something else driving related. Other than the poker run, we're in pretty good shape. The main food items will be catered. My wife and I will pick up the sodas, chips, napkins, etc.... Like last year, I think we'll invite anyone who wants to bring any kind of a dish (cold or hot) or chips or anything else to do so. We got a lot of positive feedback about that. We may need help with name tags and some set up items, but that'll come a week or two before the event. Thanks again for all the offers of help and keep those ideas coming. Steve |
Jim, I heard you have a NEW USA passport to enter NJ.
|
I will be there, But Please, let's STAY OUT of JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Dave,
Good Idea for you to stay out of Jersey. I see you don't have enough motor to pull the small hills we have in NJ.;) |
Steve:
I never thought my new comment to this thread would start such a big debate about NJ with the out-of-state owners. I will email to you in the next week or so a few locations/points of interest in western NJ that might be of interest to all drivers for the poker run. Sorry no cup holders. Just have to hold your coffee between your legs (just like we do in our cobras). jim |
There lies the problem, a Poker Run in NJ is a game of Texas Hold Em.

quaint mid 1980s NJ tourism tag....
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics...homas-Kean.jpg "New Jersey and You.....Puhfect togetha" Updated 2005 tourism tag.... http://www.2m.tv/images/centre-pilot010202006.jpg "HowYouDoon ya Freekin D*uchebags" Stay on yer side of the state line Pencil-Tuckyans!    |
John,
Do I have to "drag" your former governor into this conversation? Why is it that many bridges don't have tolls to go into NJ, but if you want to come back to PA, you've gotta pay? Is it "Hey, enter Jersey at your own risk, but if you want to live large, it'll cost you?" :D Jim, that'd be great. Any suggestions in western Jersey would be greatly appreciated. We want to make the run something of interest for everyone. Thanks for the offers of help. I'm going to post a thread about a meeting to try to work on plans. Steve |
Steve,
The reason being is you have very low taxes, so they subsidize with tolls, even on roads going to Pittsburgh of all places. We just wait for you at the state line and kick the sh*t out of you to welcome you. Most candy ass Pencil-Tukians then limp back over the border.:p :p :p :p     Talk about our governor? Ya know, I've seen you with pork in your mouth too! |
