| GASKETBOY's 1965 High Tech 427SC |
Welcome to my garage. Parked inside is the High Tech I bought just a bit over six years ago.
For it's first five years it was powered by a warmed over 390FE and a Toploader 4 speed. The empty engine bay is soon to be filled with a nicely built 428CJ. Tony Hewes Perfomance of Reno did a lot of the machine and prep work on the internals, heads, and intake with final assembly getting taken care of by a friend of mine (Steve Steele) here in AZ. Steve built and ran CJ Mustangs in NHRA Stock Eliminator for years so I'm more than confident in his abilities. Besides, I get to watch it go together and maybe even learn something along the way.
While it is currently apart I decided to also add a set of Autometer Cobra Series gauges to replace the Smith's that one-by-one have died a slow painful death, often at less than opportune times. I guess that's pat of the ownership experience.
This car has been lots of places with me and serves as my primary weekend car but once she's back together there will be some longer distance journeys taken. I tried autocrossing it once with less than stellar results partially due to my heavy right foot but mostly due to the BFG's that reside on all four corners.
I can't wait to get her all back together so I can enjoy our upcoming 2007 driving season - it is Phoenix by the way... |
