Hi Allen, I have the F16 e tubes, 225 airs and the 160 main jets as spares. Do want to buy them or borrow them for tuning? Send me a PM with your contact info and your intentions. Thank you.

Allen,

Just interested in what jetting you have now, and where you need to fatten it up.

Hi, Gary.

Had the car to the strip in July of this year and the car pulled nicely through gears 1-3 but when I shifted into 4th, the car noticably fell flat. Pulled the plugs a bit later in the season after a hardish run and instead of a nice milk chocolate brown, I saw more of a chalky hue. Just thinking that it's fuel related..

Main Circuit is as follows and these are 44 IDF's on a 347 with Dart Pro1 heads..:

Chokes are standard 37mm
Mains 135
etubes F11
Airs 175

initial timing is set at 12 deg BTDC

Allen,

Sounds more like the carbs are running out of fuel.

The 44 IDF comes with a 36mm choke, F11, 135 main, 175 air from factory, you say yours has 37mm choke?

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge at the carbs?

What size needle and seats?

What fuel pump?

What size fuel lines?

I ran 44s on my Blue car in my avatar, 308 cid, 38 choke, F2 e-tube, 150 main, 180 air, 2.00 needle and seat.

Hi, Gary.

You are correct....36 venturies.. I was going by memory

I'm running a tick over 3lbs of fuel pressure which was dialed back (sometime after the run at the strip) from a bit over 5psi upon recommendation.

My fuel pump is a Mechanical Edelbrock Performer 289-351:

Edelbrock 1725 Edelbrock Performer RPM Fuel Pumps

and needle/seats are as per stock, so 1.75.

Hose from fuel pump is a -6 AN hose, so 3/8" ID.

- Allen.

Allen,

If your car pulls well up to 3rd gear then falls over, I'd say look at going up to 2.00mm in the needle and seat.

You should run a wideband O2 sensor to determine A/F ratio at full power, your problem could be the bowls are running out of fuel.

Thanks for that, Gary! Seems like a change that would be easy enough to try before getting into the main circuit. Guess I'll make sure the floats are set correctly while I'm in there, too.

- Allen.
