I agreed with you on the steel reinforced gaskets if your using an aluminum intake for a 4 barrel carb that is designed to be structurally more ridged and weighs on average 2lbs heavier but totally different scenario if it’s a weber style intake like I pictured above. I have used steel sandwiched gaskets while also including re-machining the intake to perfectly match my head angles. What I did in my photos is the only thing that corrected the problem of gasket walking and linkage readjustment. I can now use most any style gaskets without steel reinforced and no more problems. |
Quick update. The car's done 500miles with this set up. Running great.
Had an issue with the throttles not returning fully closed, but a stronger spring fixed that. Fitting the air filters was a mission with how far back I've got my engine.
