Middle two bolts
On my manifold I can't seem to get the two bolts in the middle in the manifold holes on both sides.... :LOL:
Do I need really short bolts for those holes or special bolts with small heads?? Looking for suggestions.. Thanks |
Intake manifold??
You need to use bolts with reduced head diameter to avoid interference with the runners. Suggest either internal hex (allen head) or 12 point from ARP. The length is the same for all bolts. |
If you have the same type of headers, perhaps this'll help.
I replaced the header bolts with grade 8 Allen bolts using a ground down Allen wrench to tighten them. It was pretty easy to get them very tight. I also ground down the heads of the two bolts that went into the middle so that they slipped easily into their holes without cocking. So far (After 1500 miles) they are staying tight. Ivan |
What you need to get at those bolts is called a crows foot socket, its a sideways type socket that fits on to your socket wrench. Just go to a local tool supply store and ask them to show you a set. Once you see it you,ll know what i,m talking about. They come in handy for a lot of other difficult to reach places. Good Luck. Carmine

I used some All Thread and made studs. The fit is a little tricky, as they have to be within 1/4" of the correct height. Too long, and you can't get the nut on. Too short, and there's not enough thread to catch the nut. I topped them off with SS acorn nuts.
The studs help you drop the manifold in place perfectly every time. |
If you are saying you can't put the bolts in the manifold, remove the carbs.

I ended up making studs to go into the manifold. Worked quite well.
