IDF spacers?
Anyone know of a source for spacers for the IDF? I have a clearance issue on my small block ford between the accelerator pump shaft and valve cover. Thanks for any help.

Look at the photo posted by Derald Rice in the "Weber Filters" thread, He has a set. If you find where he got them, please post as I would also be interested in a set.

I need to check back more often. The spacers I used are Inglese, part number is NG-1013, 25.00 each. They are 1 inch spacers. The IDA's and IDF's use the same bolt patern, but the spacing is different between the throats. If IDA spacers are found, they can be cut into seperate throats and then used.

I am more confused now. I called Inglese to order the ng1013 spacers and they said that they would not work with the IDF's. I was told that even if I cut them apart that the bore diameters and bolt patterns were different and would require reboring and redrilling to work and that it would be easier to machine my own.

NG 1013 do not come as pairs. They are singles, and the bolt patern is the same as IDA"S. NG1013's are an IDA spacer acording to the box (which I still have). When you call, ask to speak with Maxwell.

Just got off the phone with maxwell, they currently only have 4 iNG1013 in stock, he is going to get back to me with a restock date. In the meanwhile, I just picked up another set of 48 IDF's from redline that were supposed to have spacers included. Spacers were not with the kit, and bud stogey at redline is making up a set that I should have by mid-next week. I will let you know about those when i get them.

Got tired of trying to find spacers. Bought a 1" thick piece of polycarbonate from Graingers and made my own. Thought I would post a few pictures to help anyone out with the same issue. Total cost for 8 spacers, $31.

I had the same problem with my 48IDF's. 8 suitably located dents with a hammer cured it real quick :3DSMILE:

Same here. But used a drill instead of the hammer. Made holes in the aluminium valve covers and then glued ("TruWeld"? petroleum and heat resistant) and riveted 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/4" alu pieces on the inside of the covers. No leaking- still after 4 years. It's also well hidden- not easy to spot.

See my 1/4 inch copper pipe caps glued into the valve covers. I think they were .30 cents each. ( Before spacers were available)

Could the threaded rod be shortened??

No not really, unless you never plan on adjusting the acc pumps. Pictured they are leaned out. I have since run the nut closer to valve cover for more fuel.
One day I might just weld a pocket in the covers when I have them off. The cap sits in between two rockers and doesn't come anywhere near them. So Im not in any hurry. I like to beat on my car and not really worried about it looking perfect, you can't see this mod unless you look for it. Cheers, |
