Give us a wave!

gsharapa 07-07-2010 08:46 PM

Drive safe and have fun in Chicago!

LREYBURN 07-08-2010 08:58 AM

Look out Chicago!

You'll probably get more salutes than waves. Kinda like the salute you, Roy, Tony, and the rest of your Group 1 playmates flash at real race cars (Formula Open Wheel) when we pass you. Drive safe and keep your hands on the wheel.:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._10-09_009.jpg

Clois Harlan 07-09-2010 06:51 AM

I love that track and the people can't be beat. Have a great time Steve and Larry. I wish I could be there. I don't want to hear about any of you lifting in the Kink or in Canada Corner!!! :)

LREYBURN 07-09-2010 07:07 AM

Clois:

It's not called "lifting"...it's called "breathing" the carburator. And, in Canada corner, we drop down to second gear and breath a lot! Gulp!

Jerry Clayton 07-09-2010 07:25 AM

For your trip up here you might want to re examine the part about I 57----

I 55 will take you from St Louis all the way to downtown Chi town

Clois Harlan 07-09-2010 12:10 PM

Pulling those trailers in Chicago traffic will be a challenge at best. I am with Jerry on this one (I-55) if you are going thru downtown Chicago. I have always gone north on 39 at Normal, Il. and up through Rockford and then pay a little toll to get to Beloit, Wi. and then bounce on up through I 43 to Milwaukee and Elkhart Lake. By the way if you have some extra time take a trip to Sheyboygan (sp) it is a really neat town.

Don Barnes 07-09-2010 12:32 PM

Lift my Ass

Larry, There are no second gear turns at Road America except when coming out of the pits. Stay in fourth longer and then use third gear a couple of times. LOL, db:3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE:

Clois Harlan 07-09-2010 01:21 PM

I have a feeling we may get our butts kicked next time he see's us Don!

There is a little hole in the wall restaurant called Klemme's Wagon Wheel in Howards Grove which is about 1/2 way from Elkhart to Sheybogan. You can get one of the best prime rib dinners you have ever had for around $12 and drink all night on a $20 bill.

Combine that with the Bratwursts that you can get at the concession stands and breakfast from the concession stand in the middle/back of the upper paddock...........Road America has by far some of the best track food in the country.

Makes me want to make the drive up there.

Jerry Clayton 07-09-2010 02:17 PM

Yep---for road from texas to Road America----or anywhere north or west of Chicago---take I 39 north from Bloomington past Rockford and Beloit into Wisconsin and then go the direction to your destination--

Jim Werth 07-09-2010 06:41 PM

If you want to stop at a nice car show. Try http://appletonoldcarshow.com/info.php Its about an hour north of the track. Would love to goto the track but I've been really busy doing my honey do list. Jim

Anytime

Clois, Larry's getting faster, the reason I know that, I was hauling ass the time I passed him. LOL, db:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Luck of the draw in Little Rock. The front desk gave us a great room, top floor over looking the river into the baseball field. I didn't know Little Rock had a baseball team:

Thanks Jerry, but we want to travel two different routes to keep it interesting. We're using I-55 when heading home.

Johan 07-10-2010 02:45 PM

Nice looking race stang !

Jerry Clayton 07-10-2010 04:25 PM

there s nothing interesting on I 57 except dead deer downstate--suggest taking I39 south to Bloomington and then jog east on I74 to I57 at Champaign then south leaving Illinois at Cairo toMemphis then west

Day #2 ............ more traveling

Decided to spend a little time in Little Rock and visit the Clinton Library. No matter what your political affiliation, it's worth it. Then traveled north up to Effingham, IL. Two scotch's, and done for the day.

Top of the morning from our balcony. Very nice.

Very uneventful travels. ZZZZZZZZZZZ. You're correct, nothing but road kill on I-57. But one interesting thing, we followed a group of bikers for about 10 miles. I think she was asleep until we passed her:

Johan 07-10-2010 11:29 PM
