SUNDAY Oct. 10th for BRUNCH BUFFET!

Let's head out for a brunch run to Oregon SUNDAY morning along the Rock River about a mile north of Rt 64 on Rt 2. The Maxon Restaurant opens at 11 am on SUNDAY for Brunch Buffet. Check out the restaurant's web site:

NOTE: THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SUNDAY, THE 10th for THE BRUNCH BUFFET, which is only served on Sundays!

Raiph,

This weekend, weather wise, is suppose to be great. I can make Sunday but not Saturday. Looks like a fun trip for brunch, with a fall color run as well. Fred

Dayle and I can make it on Sunday

Jerry Clayton 10-04-2010 08:34 AM

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

petegtsv10 10-04-2010 09:02 PM

Sunday works for me.
Cory and Jerry were here today for the first start of my Clayton 429 engine (AFR225 heads, solid roller cam, complete custom stepped headers and sidepipes) I need to get 500 break-in miles this week so Oregon sounds good to me.

Skully 10-04-2010 09:51 PM

Hey Ralph , dont eat anymore.

RedSnake351 10-05-2010 01:17 PM

OK, Skully, I'll drink to that!:D

Bob Brown sent me an e-mail and suggested perhaps sending out an E-vite to the members with detailed time and meeting place to nail it down and find how many might show up for the run on Sunday morning.
I guess that's not a bad idea, problem is I'm not a good one for picking a route, seems like Fred or Mike are experts at planning the back street routes.
I was trying to think of a convenient spot to meet perhaps around 9 am near Rt 72 and Rt 20 and head west from there.
Ideas???

Ralph

Ralph: You said Saturday, everyone else on the post is saying Sunday - which day is it?

If it's Sunday, I can make it and will work on a route. Meeting at route 72 & 20 is good by me, just to clarify, are you talking about the gas station at Starks corner. Fred

We are up for either day to go driving.

In the original post I said Saturday OR Sunday. Since the restaurant serves the Brunch Buffet only on Sundays, lets shoot for Sunday.

Fred, yes that is the corner I was thinking about. I'll get in touch with you for route suggestions.

red 10-08-2010 06:15 AM

Thanks for putting this together but we can't get to Oregon because we are in Georgia. Have fun

galla4 10-08-2010 04:47 PM

Peg and I can meet for the brunch, might not be able to cruise long because of a committment in the afternoon.

We are going on the drive Sunday, but want to meet the group closer to Rockford, for obvious reasons. Are you going down Business 20 to what ???? Alpine?? then to Rt 20, to main to Rt 2???

You guys will miss the following by going on Sunday. Someone can make a joke out of this, I am not going to touch it.

The annual Turkey Testicle Festival will be held the 2nd Saturday in October at the Union Street Station in Byron. This annual event draws thousands of people each year and during its long run, the event whose tag line is "come have a ball" has transformed from a small gathering to try out a rare snack to one of the city's most popular fundraisers. The event started in 1979 when Frank Maragi Sr. bought about 25 pounds of frozen turkey testicles and raised $130 for charity. Last year saw more than 5,000 attendees and $25,000 was raised for charity. For more information call 815-234-9910
