Rates in Illinois tend to be much higher, especially when you live in the greater Chicagoland area. And State Farm in Illinois does tend to view kit cars differently that "normal" cars.
State Farm holds all our other policies, including 2 homes, 5 others vehicles and a trailer. They were willing to cover the Cobra at the same levels as our other cars, for over $800 a year, with value listed as our purchase price. Midwest had much better coverage, lets me drive it to work (although I don't as I'm not willing to let it sit out in our parking lot for a 6 hour shift), and rolls over unused annual mileage in case I do some really long drives in one year. Last year I paid just over $500.

This year I plan to call around for other options, just to price shop.
