Default Cinco de Mayo cruise

Burritos and burnouts?
Tacos and take-offs?

Fred has been planning out the first 2018 event with early lunch and a cruise (weather dependant) on May 5. Thanks Fred!

Since it’s cinco de mayo day, we’ll head for :🏜 Mexico - “tacos and beer”; well bring the snakes 🐍! No roaches please!
Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant
26228 N State Route 83
Mundelein, IL 60060

They open at 11am, but please arrive early seeing that this could be considered a holiday. Plan for 10:30 so all have arrived before seating.

Fred would also like a count to reserve tables, the RSVPs sooner are better! Get those Cobras ready, we can also follow lunch with a short cruse or just head home. Let’s hope the weather holds up.

If we would like to meet and all cruse up together that would also work. I’ll set a meeting spot, depending on responses from all. Maybe meeting near wood field shopping plaza around 10am could work.

Please RSVP ASAP! I'll keep an eye out here this week so we have an accurate headcount.

I'm in (just me). Sounds like a good excuse for a drive.

FYI:
Mexicans hate Cinco de Mayo (well, except for one state).
It's primarily an American "holiday", so why not a Pita Inn or some "Chinese" chop suey?

Maybe save the celebration for September?

Fake mustaches and sombreros are considered especially gauche.

Just saying...

So you are telling us the 20 plus Cinco de Mayo parades in the Chicago land area this weekend in the Hispanic communities are fake and put on by the Irish?

Most parades are put on by merchant groups.

Hordes of people thronging the streets outside of stores is a major incentive to come up with a reason to hold a parade.

Think Gimbels, Macy’s, Filene’s, I Magnin, Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Rich’s of Atlanta, Kauffman’s of Pittsburgh, Lazarus of Columbus, or Levi Strauss cared about how they personally felt about Christmas?

Worked closely with many Mexicans, just sharing reality with you. Here's something that might really shock you: not all Irish are lushes.

Want to discuss Columbus Day next? :-)

Kate, I can rename the thread to "Who's up for Mexican food on Saturday?" If that will solve the problem..... or "Burritos Anyone?" Perhaps it best to not post info on our Christmas party... someone will probably say there is no Santa.

Actually I know a lot of people that are Irish and Hispanic being of both heritages, 25 % Hispanic, 50% Irish and the rest German. My Hispanic relatives participate in CdM festivities in our area and have done so for 40 years. My Irish relatives are mostly drunks and proud of it. I don’t drink and drive.

There won't be fake moustaches or sombreros, so I think we're ok. The date is mainly a coincidence because of the weather.

We're currently expecting 10 cars and 15 people. Anyone else joining?

And if we go by "any attention is good attention", this post has boosted our activity significantly, so I'm good with that. 😉

We had about a dozen Cobras, a motorcycle and a couple daily drivers. 20 people including a new member and a returning member! A great start to the season and more to come!
