Ceramic coating in Chicago

Guys,

Do any of you know if there is a ceramic coating plant in the Chicago area? I need to get my headers and side pipes done ASAP.

Ron, I had mine done at LoKo performance coatings in Oak Lawn. THey did a great job, and the price was fairly reasonable.

What Tom Said.
I was just there with a very small job so I do have their business card handy.

The only advice I would give is make sure you prep the part first. Smooth out any blemishes, remove any rust, etc etc before you take it there. They will do the rest.

LO-KO in Oaklawn

Another vote for LO-KO. I had the headers and side pipes coated there in November - $360 for everything.

I agree with smoothing them out. Dremmel with the sandpaper attachments worked best before getting them coated. Come to the garage tour saturday if you want to see them.

Now you guys tell me about smoothing them out!!!

Ron Peterson 02-17-2005 05:46 PM

Guys,
Thanks for the info on this, looks like LOKO is the place. Price sounds about right with the other vendors I had checked with. Staying in this area works well as you don't have to worry about shipping damage or lost packages. Tom, what was the turn around time on your exhaust?

Ron

RichMusson 02-17-2005 06:08 PM

Ron
Turn around depends on how busy they are. Usually less than 2 weeks. Call and they will give you an idea.

Ron, let me know if you are going for coating, I need my pipes done and if you want I can take them and pick them up. I work in Naperville and get out of work at 2:00 thats plenty of time to drop them off. Plainfield is a hop, skip & a jump.

Glen B.

Ron Peterson 03-02-2005 05:26 PM

Glen,
I called Lo Ko and they can turn the work in two weeks. Only requirement on the pipes is to make sure there is no grease or oil on them. They sand blast the pieces before they coat them. I am going to be working in the garage all weekend putting my car together so maybe you can drop off your pipes. I can get them to Lo Ko's first off the week. Since you are missing your car so badly you can look at my car for awhile. Let me know and I will e-mail my address.

Ron

Ron,
That sounds good. Friday I am going to the bodyshop after work to see if they have the first coat of color on the car. This weekend should work for a small garage tour. I love watching other people work on there cars. Blas sent the new member list, call me.

Glen 03-27-2005 06:06 PM

Hey Ron, Any word on the pipes yet. Not that I will be driving the car when I get them back. I have the top half of the motor all over the garage. Any one know how to get a round valve stem in a square valve guide? Just gaskets, no big deal.
Glen B.

Ron Peterson 03-27-2005 06:59 PM

Glen,
I called on the pipes thursday the 24th. not done but they thought that they would be completed Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I will check on them Monday and let you know.
