What's Going Down????

Hi guys,

Did everyone fly south for the winter? Where is everyone? I miss the usual back and forth nonsensical bantering between my fellow WCCC members. Although we had a big, forty plus member and spouses, turnout for our initial 2007 S & E; the WCCC board has been extraordinarily quiet recently. What’s going on? Is everyone secretly working on their car and eagerly anticipating the spring driving season?

woody2 01-16-2007 03:12 PM

Not much going Frank but looking ahead to sunday GO BEARS!:D

snake oil 01-16-2007 03:25 PM

GO BEARS!
I agree!!!!

Jerry Clayton 01-16-2007 04:20 PM

Well as it got colder, fewer and fewer people came up with the money for me to let them drive Warren and Judy's car---so we went to Georgia Thursday night and just got back today
With the heater in it now working, and the arrival of the cold and snow, I've got the Dunlop Qualifiers off and am dropping the wheels off tonight so they can mount up a four corner set of studded snow and ice racing tires-- In a week or so the Badger Kart Club is having an ice race up in Wisconson, and since this car was the fastest at London, we'll see how it does at Lake Winnebago

And Ralph has been playing with his new lift!!!!

Jerry

And to answer your question---temperature

Badman 01-16-2007 09:16 PM

Guys,

Like most of you I’ve been hunkered down with the Midwest winter weather and eagerly waiting for spring. I've been fortunate to attend all Bears' home games this year and they’ve definitely been exciting. (Except the Miami and Green Bay losses but I must admit I enjoyed watching Brett Farve’s quarterback play.) We going to Sunday's Championship Game and believe it will be a hard fought defensive struggle. I don’t think the weather will be a deciding factor and since the Saints are a solid, well-coached team and the sentimental favorite. I’m predicating Sunday’s game will be a hard fought defensive struggle; but believe the Bears will win to attend Super Bowl XLI in Miami and hopefully play the Patriots. But first we must beat New Orleans.

I saw Ralph’s lift and I’m very envious. I definitely want to install a lift in my next garage. It would be nice to change oil, do minor maintenance, etc., without crawling under the car. I think we should have an S&E and go out to Ralph’s garage and check out his new lift. Any takers?

bulletbrown 01-17-2007 08:31 AM

Well I for one didn,t think $$ 500 an hour was to bad, I,m clad Bob Malman bought his tires before he seen the damage I did to them! Warren will be very happy with how good you got it to run Jerry. Thanks for the opportunity.

Lowell W 01-17-2007 10:08 AM

Yeah...eating, drinking, snoozing on the couch...the usual hibernation routine... Sitting in the garage and smoking the occasional cigar...working on the car some and trying to get over my case of "lift envy" after seeing Ralph's photos... ;)

Lowell

Jerry Clayton 01-17-2007 10:26 AM

When Ralph really gets used to the lift, he'll be trying to figure out how to get one to lift a Maytag. With a lift in his garage he won't be the loneliest Maytag guy in town anymore

Jerry

PS-- A quick review of the morning briefing notes from recent weeks shows some activity around Ralphs house, probably wasn't noticed because most time was spend on night rider's speed around Elburn

CHRIS DAMSCH 01-17-2007 12:41 PM

Hopefully Ralphie will figure out how to lower the lift by spring so he can drive the RED Snake again.

Blas 01-17-2007 12:52 PM

Great...the club's got another lift...I'lll work out the use schedule....Ralph, get your car off the lift soon.....Marty has it Thursday and Friday, then Rich over the weekend.....you scheduled in May sometime for an hour.....no wait....45 mins......

Poolw 01-17-2007 12:59 PM

Hey Jerry, did we make enought money on the car rides so I can get a lift?
Warren

Lowell W 01-17-2007 04:58 PM

Hey...Speaking of lifting a Maytag...and not to hijack a thread or anything, but...has anyone ever been to the Punkin' Chuckin' Festival in Morton, IL? A friend and I went the year before last and there were guys catapulting washers and dryers, after the pumpkin throwing competition (during which the heavy hitters shot some 10# pumpkins somewhere around 3,000 feet). There was also a contest to see how accurately they could direct pumpkin fire on a junk car. The event is held in September, as I recall, and well worth the time to spectate...

OK...back to our normal programming... ;)

Lowell

Jerry Clayton 01-17-2007 07:17 PM

Warren

I think we will probably come up short for a lift, I had a couple of guys lined up for the icve race but the tire guy mounted the wrong tires--he mounted what you wanted and they won't work on ice

Jerry

How About a "Vertical Cobra Ride!"

Hey, Lowell, sign us up, I'll supply the washing machines.
I've taken Dale's advice to help pay for my new lift and have been giving girls "Vertical Cobra Rides" in my garage while my wife isn't home! **) %/  :JEKYLHYDE
:3DSMILE: OH,WHAT FUN THAT NEW LIFT IS!!! :D

Ralph, the New Carnival Ride Operator :p

Jerry Clayton 01-19-2007 07:17 AM

Ralph

If you can fiqure out how to lower your car, its safe to drive it now--you got the stronger axles so the wheels won't break off, the body will slide better on the snow than the gravel saving on paint damage

AND THAT DAMN SATELITE HAS BEEN DESTROYED!!!

Which of the WCCC guys that frequent that part of the world chipped in on that?

Did they even have girls in the Air Force when you were in? besides nurses?

Jerry

Poolw 01-19-2007 01:55 PM

Jerry, we could just run it on the rims for ice racing, don't your think? Maybe file some grooves in the rotors. The ice should be thick enough by tomorrow. I'll like to beat those damn snow mobiles.

Lowell W 01-20-2007 07:36 AM

Ralph (and anyone else interested),

Here are links to the info:

http://www.pumpkincapital.com/index.php?Itemid=1

A friend and I went to spectate in 2005 and it wasn't a large event; just a huge farm field and a bunch of guys and gals competing to see who could throw 8-10# pumpkins the farthest in each of three categories: pneumatic cannon, trebuchet and catapult. Sure was fun to watch, though. Then there was an unofficial "accuracy contest" with the target being an old car. Amazing to watch a 10# pumpkin hit a car... Take some lawn chairs and food for the day, as I don't recall there being any food vendors, although maybe that's changed.

If you could locate the gal in WTM442's avatar, I'm sure she would be grateful for an opportunity to use your lift. Looks like she's got a lot of "lift" there already but apparently she needs "a lift".
