May miss this one. On return trip I limped home with a vibration, noise, that seems unlike anything I've heard or felt in any car before. Diagnosis unclear at this point. I guess I could take the white one. We'll see

Default Vibration, noise?

Must have been delayed reaction from running the cornfeilds that day.

I would like to but my car is sick so it would be risky and unfair to everyone. I am going to do a seperate post with my car issue. I would really appreciate anyone's ideas.

Dr Mike
So what is it? Did you take the White one or did you fix your car?
Either way what is wrong with your car?

I think I am ready to diagnose my car issue; it’s definitely either poor workmanship or stupidity on the part of the builder. I will decide as the week goes on.

Took the Mrs' car, too nice a day to waste in the garage. The harmonic balancer failed on my car. Haven't taken it off yet but I'm pretty sure that the outer ring is not supposed to be loose & rotating randomly.

Not really, closer inspection when I get it off. Engine sure doesn't like it when the outer ring is rattling around. Hope no collateral damage inflicted.

Mike
I remember getting a carb from Pony carburetor for my Mustang. This guy does all kinds of Ford carbs and is the resident expert. At any rate he sends a video with his product. He feels the harmonic balancer in general and Ford products in particular are so bad that initial timing needs to be set be ear etc rather than using a timing light. He give instructions on how to do it and all that.

Don’t really know if that is relevant – I am sure you used an after market product when you built your engine. Still it may be a weaker point than we generally think about.

Are you going to fix it next weekend? Do you need a hand?

Thanks for the offer, I'm hoping to fix it in order to drive to QSL on Saturday, driving the pearl white car with HERS plates more than once a season would open me to a mancard citation. Although having removed the distributor (to inspect the notorious steel drive gear) I'll be depriving you the fun of the traditional 180 degree out start attempt.
