Byron Drag Test & Tune

I am looking forward to the drag races in the fall and am getting a jump on my preparation work (drive shaft hoop) this coming weekend, so I thought I would start the thread. The earliest we can do it is Oct 17 per Byron's web site and schedule (Test and Tune dates). The Corvette club is already scheduled and the Smoking 188's (???). So if all or most agree to this date, then begin the warm up to the drag races.

I will make the call to Byron to set it up, later. So who is in???? Mike, Chris, Wolfie, Eric, Al, John, Bob, Warren, Reed...... Just to name a few.

My opinion is that a rain date of Oct 18 should be the back up plan.

Maybe I am thinking this way because of the weather, did we have summer yet or did I miss it???

May the Blue cars prevail,......... as usual.

October 17th and 18th is also Caroc Fall Challenge at Road America and if the weather is good I'd rather Road Race, more time on the track, less waiting. Anyone can run cost for one day $365 touring only is $75, if you work the corners touring is free! Check it out at www.caroc.com.

The group has usually met at Spring Grove Family Restaurant 682 Park Ave. Genoa 815-784-5568. Who wants to meet for breakfast? The usual time for breakfast has been 8 AM. Anyone not meeting for breakfast go straight to the track and plan to be there about 9 - 9:30 AM. Hope to see many at this event.

So far this is the group that has responded.

AL
EMK (Eric ?)
Sten (if he is back from Florida)
Buddy
Reed
Lee
Arcy (but I heard the trans may be an issue)

Should be interesting to see Eric and Buddy's car running next to each other. Each have run under 11 sec.

Come on out guys, the weather looks good.

I'm planning on being there, but I won't be bringing a car

petegtsv10 10-12-2009 09:14 AM

I'll be there if Jerry finishes my dyno-tune on Friday....

Steno 10-13-2009 07:40 AM

I won't be able to make it this year. Car is staying for the winter, and I'll be back some time in November.
Good luck, Sten

The weather is going to be to cold for me to drive out. I would have to drive straight to the hospital for hypothermia! I'm gonna try to borrow a friends trailor and go on Sunday.

Weather on Sunday

The weather looks iffy on Sat. and most of the group can make it Sunday, so lets move it to Sunday.

No one has responded for a meeting for breakfast, so I think we should meet at the track at between 9 to 9:30, if possible, on Sunday.

A second thread was started so we should get a few more on Sunday also. Any more want to come a run or watch, come on out.

I started the other post for Sunday, glad to hear you guys can make it. We are leaving around 8:45 from South Elgin, a coupe minutes off of Rt 20. I am heading out with some guys from my neighborhood with a Grand National, Jaguar, 69 Mustang... You guys are welcome to join us. Looking forward to seeing you there.

LRcobradreamer 10-16-2009 11:02 AM

For me, meeting in Elgin is too far out of my way, coming from Rockford. See you at the track.

Great Day

It was a great day at the races thanks to all that attended. Weather was perfect, but that made it very crowded.

I was going to post photos, but Pete and/or his wife did a much better job, so see his post. The list of guys and the colors of their of car that ran today follow.

Warren (Black with Silver Stripes)
Pete (Red with White Stripes)
Buddy (Dark Purple)
Jim (Silver with Black Stripes)
John (White with Red Stripes)
Lee (Blue with White Stripes)

Buddy, in Barb's car, took the "prize" with a 10.483 sec. at 124.79 mph. Way to go Buddy!!!!
