Fuel Injection Tank used as a non fuel injected manner.

F.I. fuel tank used with a standard Holley carb in a non- fuel injected manner. Steel line is fuel, black line coming from top of filler is vent going under car, looped line is F.I. return.

Naked 533 cid EFI

A look at Naja's powerplant with most of the 'accessories' off of it. Atop is a 1200 cfm Accel throttle body, then a Torker II manifold (a significant restriction for this engine), to the new Edelbrock 6066 aluminum heads, 65 lb. Siemens injectors (supplied by an Aeroequip pump). Custom grind roller CompCam with .662 i/e lift, solid lifters, roller rockers under the custom valve cover by Innovation West (only ones like them in the world). A medium stoker with .080 overbore gives 533 cid. Wiseco pistons have 18cc dish to give 9.8:1 compression ratio. I was surprised when the redline was set at 7k, but the 2 people doing the engine work said it would have no trouble handling it.

It dyno'd at 491 hp (5200 rpm) and 548 ft-lbs (4700 rpm) - remember the Torker II being a huge restriction. It was built with reliability (first) in mind, then for torque. The lowest rpm that they data logged during the dyno was 2600, and it was already doing 525 ft-lbs.

This powers a C6 tranny leading to a 9 inch, live rear end with a 2.73 running gear. Haven't run it on the road much, but have gotten over 15 mpg on two, short trips. Spark control completely MSD including 7AL-2, Pro Power HVC coil, billet distributor with Pro cap. All of this is managed by a SpeedPro ECU. It idles at about 950 rpm.

Naja's Heart

Naja - under the hood. This is a view with all of the equipment hanging on the engine - 533 cid, EFI with a programmable ECU. (See detailed info with the "Naked 533" image).

Refined Brute Force

Brute force, artistry, or both? 533 cid, EFI, and more artwork lie under the 'bonnet'. (See engine details with the "Naked 533" image).

'Naja evolvere' with wire knockoffs

This is 'Naja evolvere' (the 'evolved Cobra') with 17 inch Dayton (Triple Cross) 100 spoke wire wheels (true knockoffs). The base coat is a pearl white, and it has subtle, ghosted graphics on the hood and truck (and another image under the hood). I built the car to 'explore the envelope' with what is possible to do with a Cobra (at a reasonable - ??? - price) - not just the common (no offense intended) 427/428, 5/7 gauge, Guardsman blue with Wimbledon white stripes Cobra. (If the above is what you REALLY want, then I congratulate you - vive la differance!).

Naja is very heavy at 3200 lbs. (fully loaded), but makes for a TERRIFIC road car (which is what I wanted). It has a 533 cid, programmable EFI engine, C6, a/c, cruise, tilt, stereo/CD (for when you stop), 13 gauge functions, power steering/brakes, sidepipe shields - everything that a Cobra is NOT supposed to have.

It is a West Coast model, being longer and wider than standard. This set of wheels takes 235/45/17 fronts and 285/45/17 rears - Bridgestone Potenza 730s (very aggressive 60k tires).

Strange stable mates

Things look considerably different under the hoods. Carburetors vs. f.i., lots of accessories vs. none, Ford versus Chevrolet . . . good old American horsepower and fun.

GT 40 Aluminum Heads

I have just worked the ports and runners over and shaved these y303 heads combustion chambers down to 55 cc's, those are Proform 1.7:1 pedestal mount rockers which fit under the short cast aluminum valve covers after you remove the baffles and machine the mounting bosses flush. Craig Blood of Blood Enterprises in Auburn Washington is my chief technical advisor, parts supplier and machinist for the shaving and valve cutting, i cannot recommend he and his crew highly enough! If you want the best quality and no BS he is your man.
