Midnight Blue 427 Cobra Original Recreation - Kirkham

Started with a Kirkham Motorsports rolling chassis with an aluminum body and original style tubular steel frame. Completely stripped car down and rebuilt as an orignal Cobra ground up restoration project using all period correct parts and many parts from original CSX cars. Powered by an NOS 427 Ford Side Oiler engine. All restoration work done by specialists that have worked on original Cobras since the 60s and have restored over 40 originals.

426 Hemi with OEM Chrome Cleaner

This was my first Big Block and still the only one. This photo is a great reminder why you should keep things that were hard to get your hands on. Regrets to this day! Won't make that mistake again in this lifetime!

Rear end oil pump

Additional oil pump can help to cool the rear end. I use a modified Corvette rear end that is lighter than the traditional Salisbury

Previous Owner having fun on a track.

The previous owner customized this car for the track, and thats exactly what he did with it.

My induction system.

If anyone knows of an individual filter that will fit these things let me know. The top is 4" outside diameter and it only has a little clearance on the hood.

Frame insulation

I purchased canvas belting (Cub Scout?) and glued it to the chassis. I was afraid that rubber might squeek or degrade.

70 Mach 1 428 SCJ

1970 Mach 1 "R" code 428 SCJ 4 speed.

Original color, medium blue metallic. 1 of about 850 428 SCJ's built that year (Both Q and R codes). I'm guessing about 1/2 4 speeds, other C6 auto's. My car has the 3.91 traction loc rear. Picture taken about 1991.
