KMP 461 is a replica of a 1963 LeMans car. Note the D type rims, as were used on the AC Car entries for 1963. Other unique items for the LeMans cars were the larger side vents. This car is being built by Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars.

CSX 2169

Fred worked for Shelby and owned a couple cars. 2169 was a display car that got damaged. Fred bought it and titled after repairing so although a 65 it carries 2169.

Interior CSX4000

Custom color, camel interior, as CSX4000's come with black interior, like all of the original CSX3000 cars.

Arntz notched cowl

Arntz loved Chevy engines but with the engine set so far back in his chassis, the distributor ended up under the cowl. This notch was his solution on some late Type 3 cars and all Type 4. For those of us with Ford engines, it allows plenty of room for the oval Cobra air cleaner or dual quads. This notch did not appear on any Butler cars.

Arntz tranny tunnel

Shown here is the removable section of the tranny tunnel. With the big engine setback in all the Arntz / Butler cars, you can remove the transmission while seated if you desire. Only a few very late Butlers had this and all Arntz Type 4 cars. I have no idea what the many cutouts are for Sad Also shown are the two triangulation tubes that connect the center of the cowl hoop to the 2 main frame rails for increased rigidity. The 3rd leg of the roll bar (not shown) also attaches to the same point on the passenger side frame rail. This is Arntz Type 4 only as well.

Inside the door skin

I took this shot to show how the hinges and latches have been reinforced with steel. This is a shot seldom seen on most kit cars. By the way the latch will be electric and operable by remote, push button, or manually. Just a small liberty taken here.

Skylight and garage fan

What seemed like a great idea at the time, that didn't quite work out - a ceiling fan to circulate air, and a roof skylight to let in natural light. The fan restricted the height I could raise the lift - I eventually deleted it. The skylight (brightest rectangle to the right) attracts bugs who overheat and die, dropping onto the cars. And, even though the contractor ASSURED me, "these new skylights won't leak" - it does in a heavy rain. So for Winter storage, I have to put a plastic shower curtain over the car cover so the water dripping down will run off and not soak the car cover.

50th Cobra Anniversary at Laguna Seca Corral 2012

We (Norcal Region SAAC) assembled and directed the Corral. I was in charge of CSX 2000 and CSX3000 cars to be displayed on Ducati Island. My car stayed in with the Original 65 & 66 cars. That's mine on the left.

1965 Dodge Coronet W051 Super Stock

An original 1965 Dodge Coronet Super Stock. Dodge produced 101 examples, as did Plymouth, for a total of 202 super stocks for 1965. This car was ordered, purchased in the Cleveland, Ohio area by Harm Friend. He campaigned this car for 5 years at numerous local tracks, one year competing in the nationals, losing in 6th round by red lighting. Harm set a national AHRA record with this car in 1969. He ran mid to high ‘11’s in the upper 120’s . He initially named this car “Man from Mopar”. He then renamed it “ N Harm’s Way” , based off of the John Wayne movie. He sold the car in 1969 with 84 original miles. Now, the car has 116 original miles.

All Dodges carried the serial number beginning with W051****. The corresponding Plymouth's had serial number R051*****. The super stock option was listed as A990, so the Dodge cars are referred to either as W051's, or A990's. In 1964, the Dodge / Plymouth Super Stocks were built with a cast iron block / head 426 cross ram hemi, and with fiberglass and aluminum body panels to lighten the cars. As Ford was also producing cars with lightweight parts, NHRA decided to make a new rule stipulating that for 1965, all super stocks had to be built with "stock" steel body panels. So Chrysler redesigned the Super Stocks for 1965, by substituting aluminum heads and water pumps on the 426 Race Hemi's, and lightening up the steel body panels by acid dipping the fenders, doors, hood, to reduce the car weight back to that of the 1964's, class minimum weight of about 3400 lbs. Truly a work of art !!!!
