500+ HP Engine Water Jacket Coolant Flow Requirements

This chart shows the linear relationship between the heat rejection (load) of the coolant and the required (calculated) coolant flow in the engine water jacket. It is determined for 3 different temp gradients of the engine inlet and outlet coolant temp. This engine example is from a 500+ horsepower supercharged gas engine assumed to have heat rejection up to maximum power (8,000 btu/min). Why do we care? If you cant keep engine temps under control at speed under load, you may have: 1) insufficient water flow, 2) undersized radiator, or 3) insufficient air flow through the radiator that needs to be addressed. This engine will require coolant flow in the lower part of the curve in street applications (low heat rejection), but for racing/track use this engine will require coolant flow rates towards the top of each curve. For older V8's pre-emissions, the common design target is to keep the radiator Inlet @ 190 F and outlet @ 180F or an average core temp of 185F at steady state conditions or the upper curve shown. Modern engines may use a little higher 195F-185F or rad core avg temp of 190F.

Kirkham Alternator Bracket on a B and B

Reasonably priced bracket that allows the alternator to be mounted between the frame and out of the way of the upper hose. I think I paid $50 from Kirkham Motorsports.

Polished 304 stainless steel pipes. "Gilmore Kit".

Collector into muffler. Notice how the collector slides between the muffler & muffler housing, for a nice tight & clean fit. Requires only a small tig weld.

Polished 304 stainless steel side pipes."Gilmore Kit"

Turn out. Notice how it slides between the muffler & muffler housing, for a nice tight & clean fit. Requires only a small tig weld. Use filler rod if you wish to smooth the weld.

Side view of the hub with locking key removed.

It added about 1 1/4" to the steering column length. Position is very ergonomic and leg space between seat & wheel is increased a little.

Lokar 302 dip stick top view

Had to "trim" the mounting bracket to fit between the header tubes, but worked out great!

Pattern to help get caliper bracket to caliper clearance correct.

This is a pattern designed to help grind the GM metric caliper bracket to the correct clearance of .005-.012 between the caliper and the bracket.

CSX2201 and later heater wire loom

The two fan speeds available in CSX2201 and later cars is achieved by using the dash switch to select between a low resistance and high resistance power path to the fan motor. Full current provides the high speed. Passing power through a specific 'resistance' wire provides the slow speed.

Aceca colors and pattern

I plan to have the colors as on the sprayover dummy, blue and cream. The body will be cream and the area between the lines taped on the gold Aceca will be blue. Might have a dark blue pin stripe on the edge of the blue.
