Buzz, I always thought the ERA replica was a more preferred shape for me as the Superformance replica is slightly different. Am I correct in thinking this????

When it comes to the 427 cars - yes, absolutely. ERA did a fantastic job of refining the shape of their body, correcting the the asymmetry and inconsistencies inherent to the original handmade bodies while still keeping the the beautiful original lines, shape and just as importantly - the low, sleek stance.
Superformance on the other hand, originally based their 427 shape on the Contemporary Cobra replica body, which - like ERA - was also splashed directly from an original Cobra and widely touted (even today) as "the most accurate Cobra replica". They were indeed fine replicas, but during the production cycle, Contemporary decided to correct the side to side asymmetry by raising the rear fender on one side to match the other. They then had to lower the rocker area below the doors and adjust the wheel openings as the new shape looked awkward with lower profile rear tires. As a result, Superformance (and quite a few other brands who copied Contemporary) inherited a different looking body with a higher, chunkier profile and stance.
They recognised their mistake and did it differently with their 289 replicas. They really are beautifully done and there are others here who can speak with authority on the quality and accuracy of SPF's MKll cars.
