How to carpet around dash support tubes?

Hi all. Does anyone have any good pics or can explain how the carpet goes around the dash support tubes on the trans tunnel.

I'm assuming the carpet on the tunnel is two pieces:

First piece under the dash - from the firewall at the front to the support tubes.

and

Second piece from the support tubes to the rear bulkhead behind the seats.

Does the first piece overlap the second aft of the support tubes,

or

Does the second piece overlap the first piece forward of the support tube.

Trying to figure out which pieces to trim and which way will lay better.
