Default wood dash

I'm completing my Shell Valley Cobra and I am wanting to have a wood dash. Perhaps Walnut or rosewood. Anyone know where to inquire about such a thing?

I've never seen one for sale, but I did see one recently custom-built by the owner of a just-finished Unique. I could probably track him down.

It's drop-dead gorgeous and the picture doesn't do it justice.

The Cobra builder in Redding Calif does them. Bill Emerson? I think is his name.

I'll ask Ron61 to put a link or something up.

Hi,
I made my dash out of solid oak, planed it down to 3/4" thick and stained it in a light redwood. It's not that hard to do if you or your friends have some woodworking tools.

Jason,

They aren't that hard to do but if you don't have the tools or want to do it yourself, Bill emerson has made them out of several types of wood. You can contact him at

Jason,

The easiest way to do it is to use a flexible veneer. It is generally 1/64 to 1/32 thick wood bound to a backing (sometimes laminated with foil). It is available in large sheets, applies with contact cement, finishes like normal thickness wood, and avoids all of the structural problems (cracking, warping, etc.) of a solid piece. The best logs in most species are used for veneer, and larger pieces of many wood are only available in veneer (i.e. carpathian elm burl, walnut burl, etc.).

Constantines supplies flexible and solid veneers in the rarest woods on earth. I have used then for 30+ years and never been disappointed.

If you need any help, I've done a fair amount of veenering - both solid and flexible. Just send an e-mail. It is a very easy process.
