From what you described Bruce, it sounds to me like your motor is running out of gas (need bigger jets) as it pulls up on the rpm band. Did you use an A/F ratio sniffer during your tests? If so, what was the A/F ratio along the hp chart. You may want to bump more advance timing into the equation also. FE's like a lot more timing than 30 degrees full advance. If you are not using nitrous or a blower, start at 38 full advance and keep going after each pull until around 40-42. Remember to make sure your A/F ratio is around 12.5:1 - 12.8:1 during the pulls. If this doesn't work, than like Clois and Fred say, you're runnin' out of cam.

Thanks for the input. I have not run it without an air cleaner. I am running one of the large oval Cobra style cleaners, mechanical fuel pump. My fuel pressure is staying bout 6-7 top to bottom. My AF was about 14 when I dynoed and I went from 76 to 79 on pri and 83 to 87 on sec. Pri proved to be too rich so I had to go back the 76 on them, but left the 87 in sec. I have not done an AF since. I am running all MSD 6AL ignition with a 5800 rev chip. Dyno showed peak HP (280RHP) at 4200, flat to 5200 and then drops off like a rock after 5200. I will try the simple stuff first (air cleaner, timimg, fuel etc) and then decide what to do. I have no problem recamming, but would also probably go ahead and do some head and rocker work.

Thanks again,
Bruce
