They may be chinese made but I have looked at both and the difference is minimal between the 2700 US made I got, (I got used for 1500) but if I were buying new I would go with american automotive for 1500 and you will be good to go. They all use the same hydraulic pump and cylinder, once the car is raised it sits on blocks so the hydraulics are not even used, for something to fail the 10 mechanical stops would have to fail and the hydraulics all at the same time in otherwords impossible

That was a long time ago. Since then I bought a MaxJax and works great.
