Lol! I went through a similar experience myself, Dave, in the mid to late 80's when I was living in Canada. I had the Cobra bug bad and I had decided to get as much manufacturer information as quickly as possible and choose which one I wanted to buy. I called every company I could get a phone number for.
I had read somewhere about CMC's pressure sales tactics and sure enough, they followed the exact same pattern. After about the third call, I laughed at the guy and told him this is exactly what I was told they would do and hung up. He called twice after that but as soon as I heard his voice I would just hang up and the calls stopped coming.
A funny aside. In my mind, I had more or less narrowed my shortlist down to ERA and Unique. The Weavers were happy to chat on the phone and answer all of my newbie questions, but when I called ERA and asked if I could order an information package, the guy on the phone - I'm guessing it was Peter - sounded irritated as hell by my questions and snapped "We don't take plastic!" and ended the call. So much for that.
CMC tried to pressure me into buying a kit I didn't want and ERA basically told me to pi$$ off and leave them alone.
