Let's see, 20K will get you a small block car you'll sink another 15-30K getting it to where you want it to be..

Does a small block out handle a big block, that all depends on how a particular car is set up.

Do these cars crack on a regular basis, not really, I can sit on the fender of my 427SC ERA replica and not crack it. I could sit on certain areas on my SPF, Contemporary, and yes even my FFR(s) and not crack the body.......Of course if you hit a curb, another car, the corner of your garage, or an Elk you can and will crack the body. Can it be expensive to repair, again that depends on the crack and bad it really is.

Buying right, again, that depends on a particular car, since rarely are two of them built the exact same way, you'll need to provide a lot more details on what you are looking for, or specifically what you are looking at for us to assist you further in that regard.
