Default waterpump flow question

Looking at past threads my question is very similar to one Mando posted related to water pump flows.

However as I need to instal a down stream part in the right flow direction and don't 100% know the answer on the pump I'll ask away.

Refering to the picture below

The two nearest black tubes represent water flow pipes running to the rear of the engine to allow heater connection. The tube pointing at the base of the modified thermostat / radiator cap holder is attached to the outlet from the water pump seen partly hidden by the yellow oil dipstick handle.

Does water flow out of the pump via this outlet into the tube through the heating system and then return forward by the second tube and back into the manifold just below the grey sensor?

I have presumed this as the water pump should be pushing water but don't know if this is correct.

Can someone confirm or correct my understanding of the water flow here please.

Cheers

Steve
