As for what was called a wedge, I always thought that open chamber heads were not considered a wedge. For that matter, I would have said the 4 valve head designs, like the 4.6 modular, are not wedge engines. I thought that the head being flat over part of the piston, with the valves deeply recessed, with a ramp connecting the two areas was a wedge. In other words the ramp is the wedge. I don't have any recollection how I came to that opinion. I may have assumed it. Anyone know for a fact what the wedge refers to?
