if u havnt opened the vdo fuel gauge then leave it in box
if u goto vdo website or whoever sells vdo gauges there is afew vdo fuel gauges to choose from and not all styles have all the everyday resistances for most car makers

early vy had something like 40 empty and 240 full
late ve vz had 240 empty and 40 full
or the other way around
if u do have the wrong way round for what the gauge is then u can dodgey something up in the fuel sender
ive done it before in an eh with ls1 engine and vy dash and the dash was late and sender was early
the most common vdo fuel sensder resistance is something around 110 ohms this is so they can sell u the matching vdo sender
what is the part number of the vdo gauge ill tell u if theres any chance it might work
