For those interested, some detailed information on the PACE 427 since it is now in full scale production.

First the CHASSIS...


SPECIFICATIONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Aluminium Semi-Monocoque Design
  • Approx. 100kg total weight
  • Just under 9000Nm/degree Torsional Rigidity
  • Premium Aluminium Sheet Grades & Custom Extrusion Materials
  • Full Flat Floor Design - nothing is below the floor, including drivetrain, underbody exhaust etc.
  • Supports both hidden underbody exhaust and side exhausts.

  • Bolt on engine & gearbox mounts to allow flexibility of mounting options, drivetrain choice and ease of change/upgrade

CONSTRUCTION METHOD:

  • Pulse TIG Welded with Miller Dynasty 350 Machine
  • Built Using Full Rotisserie, Adjustable Bed Jig
  • Material CNC Cut & Folded
  • Gussets & Reinforcement Structures in High Stress Areas
  • Chassis has integrated self locating tabs/slots to aid construction ease and accuracy
  • Chassis continually assessed for accuracy/consistancy during construction


TESTING METHOD:
  • Computer Based Chassis Torsional Simulation Tests - within a few percent of accuracy to physical tests.
  • VSB 14 Spec Torsional & Beaming Tests
  • Laser Aided Measurements for Accuracy
  • Computer Simulated Von Mises Stress & Safety Factor Tests
