Guys ... I was just looking at another , possibly more economical avenue .There is no way it would be cost effective , or accurate , to use one scale at $600 , especially since you can get a new set from Longacre for under $1000 that does all calculations for you and measures all 4 wheels at one time , not to mention the problems that Paul brought up .
My car was set up by a professional SVRA/HSR/ ex IMSA shop on their scales and I only have limited access to them , hence my search .
However , it should also be noted that all anti sway bars must be disconnected before setting wheel weights to avoid any preload and then reconnected with zero preload .
Yes , having your cross weights as equal as you can get them is important , but it is also important to make sure the left side tires have the same front to rear weight distribution as the whole car .... as should the right side tires ....i.e. , the front to rear ratios that need to be identical . For example , if the front has 50% of the total weight , the LF tire should see 50% of the left side weight etc .
There is a theoretical ideal weight distribution for each wheel/tire that can be calculated knowing your front and rear weight percentages and then set by the scales . I went back and looked at my wheel weights and percentages and that is exactly what the shop had done for me .
