That authoritative reference that you so cling to also refers to the CSX4000 as a "
true replica." See page 708. Shelby didn't want the word "replica" in his promotional materials, so they brainstormed the nomenclature "component", which became "continuation."
On Page 709, SAAC then references the CSX4000 as a "recreation", not an accurate reproduction.
And of course, the SAAC registry does list
another replica called the
Kirkham Cobra.
