As soon as I read this post, one name jumped into my mind --- Lexluther.
He could come up with some inventive and ingenious ideas I'm sure on how best to utilise your in-door space.
The intrusion bar does take up some room and in my less than creative way I'd probably be looking at some lockable compartment for the lower section with just an open tray with a 75mm lip for the upper.
In my Healey days the door space was invaluable for stowage of all sorts of things, especially on interstate trips with the kids. That was way back before side-intrusion bars of course and roll bars and when seatbelts were not obligatory etc etc.
