Door cavity functionality?

After fifty thousand hours I finally have the damn doors finished on the GTO. I just need to make the aluminium door-cards. Real GTOs have quite a range of designs for the opening from almost the full opening to just leaving a 6"x 4" slot to slip one's hand in and release the latch cord, so I can really have what I like from that aspect.

The rest of the cabin will be rather spartan and I wondered if anyone has any ideas for the space inside the door; specific storage, cup holders, holder for enlarged little finger prosthesis to slip on when people give me the little pinky sign, etc, etc, which I could include in the design of the cards?

As soon as I read this post, one name jumped into my mind --- Lexluther.

He could come up with some inventive and ingenious ideas I'm sure on how best to utilise your in-door space.

The intrusion bar does take up some room and in my less than creative way I'd probably be looking at some lockable compartment for the lower section with just an open tray with a 75mm lip for the upper.

In my Healey days the door space was invaluable for stowage of all sorts of things, especially on interstate trips with the kids. That was way back before side-intrusion bars of course and roll bars and when seatbelts were not obligatory etc etc.

You could do whatever you want when you think about it.

The intrusion bar sits as it does to follow your body shape.

Any object in the cavity could be a projectile, hence why audio speakers are mounted away the from torso area.

If it all gets too hard, as long as you have enough space to store your pinky extender, you'll be OK. It's all about the girth...
