Trip to ACE, some nice new grade 8 bolts and some metal insert locknuts and its a done deal. Just for grins, I'll be applying a drop of medium strength lock tight, too. Would have been an ugly job, flat on my back, but once again the investment in a lift pays off.

The driveshaft running out of true could have put additional load on the transmission extension housing bushing (and seal). Keep an eye out for leakage and get the seal/bushing replaced if need be. Not a big deal to do, except for pulling the trans tunnel to get at the housing. I may have the bushing puller/installer tools if they're similar in size to a top loader. I haven't seen them in 30 years, but don't think I would have gotten rid of them.
