If the carb is hot enough to boil the fuel, the vaporized fuel should stay inside the air filter and get sucked unto the engine. That would make it run rich. Shoot the carb with an IR gun, if you have one, and see how hot it is getting.

After shutting off the engine, you might be able to hear boiling. You may also see fuel running down the barrels. Another tell tail sign is when you start the engine the bowls are empty (fuel was boiled away after is was turned off hot) or very low requiring a lot of cranking to fill them up (mechanical fuel pump). If you have an electric fuel pump you would notice it running longer to fill the bowls, if you turn the key on but not crank the engine.

You definitely do not want vaporized fuel under your hood looking for and ignition source
