Default Loading up

After letting my car sit for 10 minutes during a drive my car will load up I have a air gap manifold with a quickfuel carb. Not sure why this is happening . after about 5 minutes or so car will return to normal. Is this normal or is something causing this.

Sounds like you have some percolation happening.

Can you post some pics of carb, and fuel line routing?

I tried to post a little movie but club cobra will not let me do it. It has been hot here in sunny CA. so I think you are correct I just need a low profile solution for the problem.

Could be a worn distributor gear...

You really didn't provide a great deal of information about the problem (i.e. first time occurrence vs. long term issue, other unexpected issues, etc.). However, assuming it's related to a recent event, I would chase a percolation problem. I experienced a similar issue, and after chasing numerous potential areas of concern, I installed a 3/4" phenolic spacer under the carb and the problem was solved. I used a full 3/4" spacer but, depending on your engine, manifold, carb package, you might have to use a thinner model. The phenolic material provides a good heat insulator between the manifold and carb and is not affected by gas or oil. I believe the cost was around $25 and included new gaskets.

If the carb is hot enough to boil the fuel, the vaporized fuel should stay inside the air filter and get sucked unto the engine. That would make it run rich. Shoot the carb with an IR gun, if you have one, and see how hot it is getting.

After shutting off the engine, you might be able to hear boiling. You may also see fuel running down the barrels. Another tell tail sign is when you start the engine the bowls are empty (fuel was boiled away after is was turned off hot) or very low requiring a lot of cranking to fill them up (mechanical fuel pump). If you have an electric fuel pump you would notice it running longer to fill the bowls, if you turn the key on but not crank the engine.

You definitely do not want vaporized fuel under your hood looking for and ignition source
