Re. something your photo doesn't show...

The problem is scale and the length of the bushing housing.

Re. The picture about 1/2 way down the page seems to show a similar setup to your picture

It is similar but the bushing housing is twice the length on my car if the diameters are the same. Again my photo only shows this end on.

You might be on to something. My car has Wilwood brakes and Koni shocks as well.

Did you order part #683-167: Complete Front Bushing Suspension Kit - SuperPro Brand - for 1975-80 Rubber Bumper MGBs from Moss Motors? These kits are very different from the parts I found previously.
