Question Sourcing Control Arm Bushings for a Butler

Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble trying to find these bushings to fit the MGB front end of my Butler. The ones I have found are all too small, even ones supposedly for the V8 conversion. The photo shows the upper bushing housing. There is another below the hub that appears to be the same size. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Bean,

Looks like Summit has a lot of them: https://www.summitracing.com/search/...arings/make/mg

On the off chance you didn't look there yet...

Tom

Default Too Small!

Thanks Tom but these are for stock MG suspension. The Butler uses a modified MGB suspension that works with tube-type shocks rather than the OEM lever-type dampers. These bushings @ Summit are smaller. I'm hoping someone with a Butler who has replaced his/hers will respond.

Bean,

Got it. Anyway, I maybe got it

Here's some info about an MG with the lever arm shocks. The picture about 1/2 way down the page seems to show a similar setup to your picture:

https://mgdriving.com/2021/09/18/rep...dont-tell-you/

Even though you have the tube shock, the end of the arm looks quite similar unless there's something your photo doesn't show...

Still trying to help,

Tom

PS: Just found a bunch of old links that may be useful: MGB Front Suspension

Be aware it's a very old list so some may not be there any more, and some pages may not exist, so you'll have to try each main web site to see what's there now...

I rebuilt mine years ago and used standard MGB parts. Nothing special about it. Mine had Wilwood brakes and Koni shocks. I bought them all from here:

Tom,

Thanks again,

Re. something your photo doesn't show...

The problem is scale and the length of the bushing housing.

Re. The picture about 1/2 way down the page seems to show a similar setup to your picture

It is similar but the bushing housing is twice the length on my car if the diameters are the same. Again my photo only shows this end on.

Joyridin',

You might be on to something. My car has Wilwood brakes and Koni shocks as well.

Did you order part #683-167: Complete Front Bushing Suspension Kit - SuperPro Brand - for 1975-80 Rubber Bumper MGBs from Moss Motors? These kits are very different from the parts I found previously.

Thanks to both of you!
