I didn't think there were too many mortals that were faster than me but you would have edged me out. I ran the 100 in just 9.8 to 9.9. My 50 was 5.7 to 5.8 depending on the day.

I'm only 5'8". They said I was too short for safety/DB. But I was fast and liked hitting guys. I was probably one of the few that liked the hustle drills in practice.

Alot of teams ran the "Y" wishbone offensive back set up in H.S. equipped with fullbacks that were a load. It was usually a REAL treat when the offensive guard would trap over on the center. My job was to be the human "cork". Made my share of tackles getting run over and just hold'n on. I wasn't the biggest guy on the field so my strategy was to make sure they thought I was crazier then they were. There is something about someone who is nuts that makes them intimadating. An unecessary roughness or unsportsmen like every game was needed to make the point.

Our coach, used to play for the Oilers. He was at least 6'6' and 270lbs. I'll just say finesse wasn't his thing.

My most embarassing moment was during a Homecoming game of all games. Got pasted on the kickoff team trying to make a tackle. Was on my back trying to breath for what seemed like hours. Looked up and saw three opposing players looking down at me with a satisfied grin on their face. Wanted to say "F you" but I could not even breath. Then saw the ref. Then saw my MOTHER! I prayed for death right there! I knew that would be a real hit in school for weeks.

Many times wish I could go back in time and play again.

BTW: Used to play flag football too after my college "career". Ruptured one achilles tendon. Rehabed. Went back and played again and ruptured the other achilles tendon. Gave up. Ran out of achilles tendons.
