Thanks Perry....That's kind of the way I'm looking at it....and you're right....I installed the 4.10s because I have a World Class T5 with a huge jump from 4th to 5th. The 4.10s work well in overdrive with a 28 inch tall rear tire, but when I went to the 17"ers with a 26" rear height I just stopped using 1st at all. 2nd gear starts are fine. It still cruises pretty well in 5th, but I need to get back to the taller tire or change back to the shorter gears. I had a 3.55 before....didn't work well with tall tires...would work great with the 17" wheels, but I don't like the looks of the 17s, regardless of how well they perform. Hoosiers for a spare set would be a fun idea!
