Lame Question Alert!

My transmission is a Ford 4-speed close ratio "Top Loader" with heavy spline. I have no mechanical experience, but I'd like to try to adjust the clutch myself, if possible. I'm having a little trouble shifting and the former owner stated that a clutch adjust may solve the issue.

I'm thinking that there is probably a adjusting nut near the transmission, but which way to turn it - if I can find it - is probably an issue.

Any words of wisdom to be had covering this mechanical "adventure"?
