What king of mods do you have on the C6, how is it holding up to the power. What type of converter, rear end ratio etc. I have a C6 going behind my 460 as well. |

Hello Venom_S No Aluminum Heads. This motor is heavy, with an offenhauser mid-rise manifold and 750 Carb. She runs strong. Thanks! |

Hello jdean, I have had this paired up since June 2001. The C6 is a great trans for this engine, but she started busting leaks. I have a trany cooler which you will need. The pressure from the hp is real high. The C-6 is getting re-sealed in January. Make sure you have a good tech seal your trany, that is important. The Trans is the only problem I have had. I had this car professionally assembled for me. I am still learning about my car so I can't answer all your questions. She is very solid. She does have a racing shift kit. I will tell you before you get into your power, make sure you have 5 lug stainless steel 11" disc brakes all around. Use and upgrade tubular A-Frame for the front with a rear stabilizer sway bar. I also needed a heavy guage front suspension because of the weight of the motor in turns. Going is not the problem in these rockets. Thanks, Sean |

Hello jdean, I wanted to answer you better from my spec sheet. The C6 has a 2000 stall converter, B&M Shifter. Rear End is a 9in, not sure of the gear ratio but it runs at a low 1,900 to 2,000 rpm at 65 miles per hour. Hope this helps! Sean |

Venom, The heads are small combustion chamber heads. The motor is 11.3 compression, offenhauser 360 degree intake w/ 750 cfm Holley. Sean |
Might be a 3.08
rear end could be a 3.08 if it turns that low at hwy. speed. That is what I am going with as well, along with a TCI torque converter that is 2000 stall. Thanks for the info....

I've got over 3000 trouble free miles (at least on the engine - had some fuel pump problems to iron out) on my FMC crate 460 w/ 535 hp. Hooked up to a TKO and a Stang 8.8 rear with 4.10's.**) Torker II intake, Holley 850 cfm, and Canton flat bottom 9 qt. racing pan. MSD. Supposedly I have the first FFR BB kit. Lots of gas, but lots of fun too!!!

Dior55, What year was your FFR BB Kit purchased? Do you know how many they have made? My only problem has been the c-6 busting a few leaks. Have'n it fixed next month. I can watch my needle move just at idle! Sean |
FFR 1753K, picked up at Factory in June, 1999, right after BB debuted at Carlisle Kit Car Show in May, 1999. About a year ago I heard that they had sold about 60 BB's. Not sure of the numbers now. I had some workthrough problems with the kit, and basically became the "beta tester" for the BB. We worked out all the kinks.

460/535hp version.
I have the 535/460 in my SPF, and have been very pleased with the overall package. It has been dead reliable, with over 8300 miles in just over two years. I drive the car every chance I get, & race it at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson Texas and at Hallet in Tulsa, driving there and home again. Needless to say, I am pleased with the combo, as I watch my friends in the Texas Cobra Club that run 427's repeatedly break something that costs$$$ to fix almost every time they try to have some fun!

I have an SPF with a 533 cid stroker.
Forged Crank 10.25:1 pistons Edelbrock Alum Head Torker II 460 (great manifold and very low rise) Race Demon 975 RS My hyd. cam is .584i/.611e at .050, way too mild. Possibly going to a solid cam. This makes about 500 hp at the rear wheels, somewhat limited by the heads and cam...Any suggestions are appreciated... |
Crane Cams mechanical roller (.718 lift int and exhaust, 284/294 duration)
Blue Thunder heads Expect about a 200 hp increase  Venom_S :3DSMILE: |

Hello to All,
SPF #343 460/535 H.P., 850 cfm Holley, Aluminum SCJ heads crate motor back up by a Tremec TKO. Built originally by Dynamic in Ohio and sold in Maryland. I brought it to California in May 2000. 8900 miles now and it had 2200 when I bought it in Maryland put 800 miles on it the first 24 hours after I gave the original owner my check. :D :D :D :D :D Maryland through Virginia through North Carolina ( Driving through the Smokies at dawn was awesome) across Tennesee to Nashville. Still Smiling... the 3-4 shift ...May the Force be with You. Tony R. |
I MAY install a 460 if the weight comparison works out alright for me.
My last car's weight was 1950 lbs. I can hardly top that with less weight using a cast iron block in a SPF, but I try to stay on the low side. What does a SPF weigh with only the bare essentials? Dominik |
SPF weights
Dominik,
My car weighed 2740 with a full 17 gal fuel cell. 1300 front and 1440 rear. Without fuel that would be about 2620. My car is not bare essentials though. I have a full width five point rollbar. There are some other things that add a few pounds here and there like an Accusump and a firebottle system. The SPF website shows the following weights: 2485 with a 351 2590 with a 427 2660 with a 460 |
Thanks crill!
(I want MY car back ...) ;) |
Just found this forum. Been looking for it on Quick Forum Hop since Brent said he would put it on the site.
Mine is a 533 from a '71 Lincoln; 9.8:1; SCAT crank; Wisco 4032 pistons (18 cc cup). Edelbrock aluminum heads (with some work). Edelbrock Torker II manifold (with some work). Comp Cam special grind .662/.662; 255/262 with 112 lobe separation (for EFI); solid lifters with Crane roller rockers. Accel 1200 cfm throttle body. 8 Siemens 64 pph injectors (in manifold). Speed Pro programmable ECU. MSD Blaster HVC coil. MSD 7AL-2 ignition control. MSD Pro-billet distributor with the Pro-Cap. Aeroequip 500 pph fuel pump. Cobranda large oval air cleaner. C6 with TransGo shift kit; kevlar bands, etc. 9 inch pumpkin with 2.73. Bored yet??? Just got it running. Have about 150 miles on it. Battling what I think are air pockets (to remedy some minor overheating at speed). I wanted injected Webers, but when I had to buy the intake, no one had it in production. I have heard, since then, that at least one company is now producing this system. Maybe in a couple of years I will change over. Hope to see many of you around the country, since I plan to do a lot of travelling with the car (a West Coast). Frank Newman (near Houston, TX) |
