Here are the ones that were on mine. They were not the tall covers, so there was a 1.0 inch spacer to raise them up.

Congratulations and welcome to the big block club.

460/550hp in a CMC built in 93.

PurpleVenom 08-25-2009 06:31 AM

Mine installed in a F5R. See the dyno numbers. A bit lower than previous posts that I attribute to the restrictive TorkerII intake and a smaller 750 Carb. Love the torque matched to a Tremec 5 speed. Rear 2.73 gears doesn't provide the kick in the pants, but at 15mpg with a BBF, I can't complain, can I?

Currently have a 533 with dual 750 holleys. 700hp and 696lbs. Pulling the engine as it over powers the car.

new to the site

I have a complete 429/4V engine which I bought back in 2007 ($400). I was told it came out of a police interceptor. When I got it home I pulled the pan off and it has the thick main webs so I am happy that I have the beefy block and the C revision heads. Now I am just going to sit on it until...whenever... I was thinking eventually about a Falcon or a Mustang as I've never had either. I've had a '74 Torino Elite 351C./ 55 Chevy LT1 350/ '65 Olds 442/ 83 Porsche 911 Cab/ 27T Rat Rod and a '74 454 Stingray ( which I crashed and am restoring). I missed a '71 Mustang 429SCJ which some friends had almost 30 years ago, they sold it with a froze up engine for... wait for it ....$2500 back in 1983. It's nice to see this kind of interest in such an iconic engine.

The last time I went through my car, installed an aluminum flywheel,Tremec TKO 5 speed, 3.54 to 3.73 rear gear, set the rearend angle to 4 degrees positive. Wow! what a difference off the line, feels like it could pull the tires, have a set of street slicks just may give it a shot. This next year have Dan Davinci building me an 850 dbl pmp for the 460.

My other toy is a 64 TBolt. It is running a 460. If I tromp it, the car goes sideways down the street. Alot of fun, big power.

Greetings from Arizona
I just bought a Cobra that was sittings outside since 06 in our warm Arizona Heat. was 113 yesterday. It has 429, C6 Trans, I got it running, now I'm redoing fuel lines, transmission lines and hope to do engine oil cooler lines with all metal lines. Lots of work to go to make it drivable. Jay

PS: This Cobra came out of Northern California.....It had Calif Plates....BLUVNM. Don't have any history on car. Thanks Jay

460 headers question

I am running a 460 in my chassis and purchased headers from FactoryFIve which turned out to be Hookers. during installation I notice that the lengths are not equal to the side pipe flange on both sides. One side is nearly two inches longer which would require offsetting the engine to get equal placement of the flange for sidepipes. Is this normal for the big blocks? Is it because of the steering issues? Please help!

I also notice that the headers will fit either side although it changes the set back on the engine to do so. If the longer header is normal, which side does it go on, the drivers?

Tim Brewer 07-30-2011 09:18 PM

The longer header goes on the passenger side.
