The way I read it is KC ultimately said send it back and I'll fix it but Trask said no, he didn't trust KC any longer and was going to have the work done locally but wanted KC to provide the parts. KC, understandably, doesn't want to provide the parts without inspecting the damage for himself.
Thus, a stalemate.
