Default Dating a 460 Ford (Well feels that way)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:-) Hi Guys,
Can anybody help me I am looking for a web site or official site to date my Ford 460 engine for an English SVA test. I have the engine number 7Y917334. Any feedback on dating this 460 would really help.

Cheers guys and all the best.

Julius

Are you sure it's a 460 and not a 429...makes a difference in the decade.

You can look at this thread:

Or ask yourself at:

Thumbs up Dating the 460

Definnitly a 460, bought as a cut out from America. With a c6 auto attached. How does this affect the decade. Can you make any sense of the number I have quoted? Thanks for your help.

All the best.

Julius

I'm definitely not a 460 guy, but no one else seems inclined to help, so I'd make one more suggestion, and that would be to post your question here:

460gurus

And I've actually copied your query to the board; I'd monitor it to see what sort of response you get.

Actual Post There

Good Luck

that is a bad casting # for a ford 429/460 block unless its from 1980-1996
there should be a casting number on the side of the block under the starter
look for a number there like d1ve 6015 a
the d would stand for 197 then the 1 for the year ve state the 385 series block
